Wow – 13 years..it seems like just yesterday I attended my first ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) as a brand manager of a new and exciting NSCLC treatment. Months of committee meetings and planning had led to this day and I entered the conference hall in awe – plenary podiums, oral abstracts and poster sessions graced by passionate, caring minds of the world’s cancer experts partnered with exhibit hall booths full of hope through science, creative displays and technology experiences. Although a veteran of many annual pharma conferences – nothing is quite like ASCO and the anticipation of life changing treatments for patients and their caregivers.
As I gear up for my McCormick Place pilgrimage – no surprise I am eager and hopeful.
Hopeful as I hear this year’s advances from cancer care treatments to elevating the patient voice about the patient experience. Hopeful as novel therapies are discussed in areas with big unmet needs. For US cohorts, I anticipate AHCA discussions will join broader discussions regarding patient access. As a consultant our breadth of clients provides a full conference dance card to learn, gain insights and help enhance patient care.
I’ll be in the halls and look forward to connecting with old friends and meeting new ones. Please share your thoughts on the meeting and let me know if your dance card is free. Look forward to seeing you in Chicago where we can “Share Knowledge. Gain Insight. Improve Cancer Care.” (ASCO)
